"Most folks are as happy as they make up their minds to be." ~Abraham Lincoln
Brian Read, LPC (Accepting new clients now!.)
ABOUT BRIAN: Brian achieved his Master of Science in Counseling from Northwest Nazarene University in 2011. Brian has been practicing in the Treasure Valley for over 8 years and has a strong background in attachment-related issues and working with adolescents and adults.
A FEW WORDS FROM BRIAN: Beginnings: I understand that walking in the door can be anxiety producing. My role begins with meeting you where you are, accepting you as you are, and building a therapeutic relationship. My office is a judgment-free zone, where you will hopefully feel safe and valued as a person. Process: The basis of our work together is in working toward YOUR goals. My role is to come along beside you, walk with you, listen to you, provide you with some new ways of thinking about your situation as well as help you develop skills necessary for coping, relating, or whatever is needed to help you achieve those goals.
Completion: When you are satisfied with the changes you have made; our work wraps up. When this happens is determined by you. Sometimes folks wrap up with a realization that they have achieved their goals while others prefer a gradual reduction (such as sessions going from weekly -> twice a month -> monthly). This is what we call graduation, and it is a joy to see people go into their futures, feeling better about themselves and the path they are on.
My practice includes working with older adolescents and adults. My focus areas include anger management, depression, managing anxiety, assisting with attachment issues and self-care. For those that desire it, I also provide faith-based counseling from the Christian perspective. OTHER INTERESTS: I treasure time with my wife of 36 years and with my two grown sons. I serve on the board of my local church and enjoy volunteering at a local children’s home. As time allows, I work on restoring vintage automobiles and trucks.
