William Martinez, LCSWABOUT WILLIAM:
A Licensed Clinical Social Worker who brings over 20 years of experience of working with individuals, families and couples who are suffering or who are feeling “stuck” in life. William works alongside people to help them manage or resolve depression, anxiety, trauma, and interpersonal problems. His education and training take root in understanding one’s capacity to regulate emotions within the everyday challenges and struggles of life. As early as college, William received a bachelor’s degree in conflict management, which inevitably helped him understand fundamental principles in problem solving and conflict resolution as a way to help increase safety in oneself. This provided him with a deeper understanding of how people cope with stress in the context of their social environment, communities and society, to live a life worth living. He believes that therapy is a place to gain more awareness and perspective, and to recognize one’s strengths to help them overcome difficult transitions in life (death, unexpected changes, and family crises). William has a special passion for couples therapy, and uses the evidence-based training of the Gottman Method to help partners improve communication, resolve conflict, and deepen their connection. In particular, he understands how past emotional experiences can shape current relationships. William has training in the Gottman Method for Couples Therapy (Levels 1, 2, 3), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) certification, as well as training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to assist those with emotion dysregulation challenges. A FEW WORDS FROM WILLIAM: I believe that everyone’s journey to healing is unique, and I approach therapy with a deep respect for each individual’s personal experiences.
